What You Can Expect

Mary Brown and I have run a good hard honest campaign and have not resorted to any negative campaign tactics.  We have shown the voters that we follow the rules, have no special interest other than helping get our CSD and will fulfill our fiduciary duties to the district and to the community in a courteous adult manner.  We have suffered enough from CSD boards more interested in fighting each other than in the welfare of the District.

If elected, we intend to bring the following suggestions to the board and if the board approves we will work hard to see them through.

1.      Make sure that the ad for General Manager is published in all newspapers for our area and on the various industry websites

2.      The formation of a Grants Committee to actively seek out funding for infrastructure improvement and upgrading the entire treatment plant.

(We have researched this and there are stimulus monies from the American Recovery Act, grants available from the EPA and USDA just to name a few.  We also have someone who has written grants for Public Agencies that will volunteer to help.)

3.      Re-do the Prop 218 to include anywhere from 5-10 ccf's included in the $47 monthly service charge and to set tiered water rates.

(We are  waiting for the usage figures from CSD to determine if this is feasible)

4.      Analysis how CSD operates as a whole and see if there is anything we can do to make it more cost effective.

  2. At least you both have some sort of plan...not just stating we all have to bite the bullet and while they keep raising the fees for water!!!

  3. Anything for the vacant lots? Don't tell me you also want to only concentrate on the metered lots. Can we count on you to vote down the prop 218 & restructure first? This last board continually locked up votes, is there a trio in the waiting to lock up more votes. I must admit you and Mary seem to run together, get one more & votes are locked, same with the men? Any comments on this? Can I get these answers before the vote tommorrow. Good luck Mary & Vicki.

  4. I really can't speak for Mary but I believe that the assessment on the vacant lots should be raised but it should be done by ballot as required by law and the rates should be staggered over several years and be reasonable not how they were purposed last year.

Mary and I share similar ideas as to how the CSD should be operated but we don't always agree on all issues. We will vote on the merits of an issue not on who is voting.

As directors we will not play the good old boy or girl card. If elected ee will vote based on what is legal and best for the district and it's ratepayers.

  5. This is Mary. Sorry I didn't post this soon. Yes I would vote down 218 as it stands now. I'm not sure we would need $20.00 increase a month to start, if it's true than I would incorporate the tiered system with 5 to 10 ccf's being part of usage with monthly fees. Then any one who uses more would pay more per ccf's or for a certain amount of ccf's. Like 2 ccf's would be $2.00, 4 ccf's would above the 2 ccf's would be $2.25 and so on. Mary

  6. Mary again. As far as the empty lots, if our plan for the CSD goes through we would have a perfect reason to up the fees for the lots. Maybe $10.00 a year for 4 to 5 years. Something like that or if we could put meters on all the lots we might be able to lower the monthly feed. Mary

  7. Mary, I am glad you said you are going to vote NO on the prop 218, Vicki did not answer this question.(she skirted around the question) I think you have some very good ideas, hope it works. Good luck tonight on the polls.

  8. No I didn't skirt around the question. I answered it by saying NO Prop 218 on Oct 25th. Please see my comment on 6 Days to Go.

  9. Hey Vicki,
Someone just emailed me the latest blog post. Well he sure does not know you or your writing. He probable does not realize how much you both are for what is best for the community. Helping the homeowners get the best possible water service is not only good for the community it will also help the real-estate market. Who wants to live in an area that does not have a great water source.

  10. I don't read it for the same reasons I don't read the National Enquirer.

The election is over and we are just waiting for the final ballot countin Mariposa which Keith says will be done Monday afternoon.

The only reason I ran was to help CSD get on firmer financial ground and to make sure that the community has safe clean water at REASONABLE RATES.

  11. It sure is quiet on the homefront, I cannot beleive it takes so long to count ballots in this small 2 counties, when the state has the results already. We must really be problem children.

  12. Quiet is kinda nice.....

Mariposa is done counting and waiting for Tuolumne. What with Thursday being a holiday and Deborah Russell, Tuolumne Clerk & Auditor-Controller not in on Friday it looks like Monday or Tuesday.

All we can do is wait.
